Elephant Orphanage & Elephants Bathing Place
This is an ideal day trip to entertain your family with children. Established in 1975, Pinnawala elephant orphanage is a breeding ground for wild Asian elephants. The aim of the orphanage is to protect and care for the orphaned elephants in the jungles of the island. There are 88 elephants, including 39 males and 49 female. A natural habitat is presented to the elephants where they are taken to the river twice a day. While you are enjoying a hearty breakfast near the sight of bathing Elephants in the river and this is a fun filled activity for kids and adults alike.
Tea Factory & Tea Plantation Visit (optional)
Visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the best tea in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea. You can also see how tea is graded. Taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory.
